Filing Your Taxes in
London, Ontario
The Practice
A London practice,
not a branch office
Greywood Advisory is a personal and corporate tax practice based in London, Ontario. One person prepares your return from your documents through to the EFILE confirmation — the same person you spoke to at the start.
Most people here have two real options at tax time: a national chain that processes returns at volume, or an accounting firm where a personal T1 is not the priority. Neither is quite right for someone who simply wants their return handled properly by somebody who understands their situation.
That gap is why Greywood exists. Fees are fixed and agreed before any work begins — no hourly billing, and no charge for asking a question. We file as an Authorized CRA EFILE Provider, and the practice was founded by a sixteen-year veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces.
How It Works
In person here, or
by video anywhere
We meet in person in London and across Southwestern Ontario by appointment, and by video or phone anywhere in Ontario and the rest of Canada. Every meeting is booked, so there is no counter to queue at and no waiting room.
Start with a free consultation
No time limit and no obligation. Bring the question you have been putting off — asking it costs nothing, whether or not you become a client.
Send your documents, or bring them
Slips and receipts go through our secure upload, or you can hand them over at the meeting. If you are not sure what to gather, the what to bring checklist is the short version.
You see it before it is filed
We prepare the return, walk you through what it says, and file it electronically once you have signed off. Nothing goes to the CRA before you have read it.
Who We File For
Guides written for
situations we see here
Each one is a full guide rather than a summary, written for the person in that situation. If yours is not on this list it is still one we handle — these are simply the ones common enough here to be worth writing down.
Students at Western and Fanshawe
The T2202 you download from the student portal rather than receive in the post, the tuition credits that wait until you are actually earning, and why a return with no income on it is still worth filing.
Student tax guide →Nurses, Paramedics, Police and Fire
Shift premiums, union dues, and the T2200 that decides what you can actually claim against employment income. Also the group most likely to be owed the service appreciation rate below.
Read the guide →CAF Members and Veterans
What a posting year does to a return, and how service pay and allowances are treated. If you have since left the forces, which VAC benefits are taxable is the other half of the picture.
CAF tax guide →Trades and Contractors
The tools deduction, the truck, HST on your quotes, and the T5018 if you sub work out. Written for people who invoice rather than collect a single T4.
Trades tax guide →Landlords
Rental income on Form T776, which expenses actually qualify, and what claiming capital cost allowance does to you later. Student rentals included — this is a city with a lot of them.
Rental property guide →Self-Employed and Freelancers
The T2125, CPP on self-employment income, and the instalment schedule that catches people in their second year rather than their first.
Self-employment guide →Service Appreciation
15%, all year
Military, veterans, nurses, police, fire and paramedics get a 15% service appreciation rate. Not a promotion, and not a week in November — it runs all year, every year.
Greywood was founded by a sixteen-year CAF veteran, which is the reason the rate exists rather than a line in the marketing. How the service appreciation rate works sets out who qualifies and what it applies to.
Fees
Published, and agreed
before we start
Our fees are on the pricing page in full, and the fee calculator will give you your own number before you speak to anyone. Whatever it comes to is agreed in writing first, and it does not move unless the scope does.
If you are comparing us against other firms in the city, what an accountant costs in London, Ontario sets out the going rates, what moves them, and where we sit against them.
