Corporate Income Tax — T2

Corporate Tax Intake

This is Form GA-15, the intake we need before preparing a corporation's T2 return — one per corporation, each fiscal year. Work through it here and download the finished PDF at the end, or download the blank form and fill it in by hand.

Nothing you type on this page is sent anywhere. The PDF is built on your own device, and you send it to us yourself through the secure upload link. That matters here because the CRA asks for the SIN or business number of every shareholder with 10% or more, and a SIN should never travel as an email attachment.

Every field except the corporation's legal name, a contact email, and the confirmation at the end is optional. If you don't know something, leave it blank and we'll ask.

The documents to send with it are on Form GA-16, the corporate document checklist. What a return costs is on the corporate tax page.

01

The Corporation

Is the corporation new to Greywood?

The nine digits on any CRA letter to the corporation. Not to hand? Leave it blank.

02

Main Contact

The person we go to with questions.

03

Directors & Shareholders

Every director, and anyone owning 10% or more of any class of shares. The CRA asks for each one's SIN — or business number, if the shareholder is a company — for Schedule 50.

SINs and business numbers are checked for typos on your device only. Prefer not to type one? Leave it blank and write it on the downloaded PDF. More than four people? Note the rest in section 09.

About the Corporation

These decide which schedules and rates apply. Answer for the fiscal year above.

Is it controlled by Canadian residents, with no shares traded on a stock exchange?

That makes it a Canadian-controlled private corporation, which is what the small business deduction turns on.

Does a shareholder, or someone related to one, own or control another corporation?

Associated corporations may have to share the small business deduction between them.

Does it have an office, staff or a place of business outside Ontario?
Is this its first fiscal year?
Is this its last year — winding up, dissolving or amalgamating?
Did it employ more than five people full-time all year?

Matters when most of its income is rent or investments.

05

Accounts with the CRA

Which program accounts the corporation has, besides corporate income tax.

Did it pay corporate tax instalments during the year?
Is it registered for CRA My Business Account?

Not registered? It's worth doing before we file — it's where the notice of assessment and any CRA letters arrive.

06

Your Records

What you can send us for the year. Check everything that applies.

Books that aren't kept yet are priced as bookkeeping first, quoted before any work starts. We prepare the T2 from the corporation's records and don't audit or verify them, and we don't prepare audited, reviewed or compiled financial statements — Greywood Advisory is not a licensed public accounting firm. If a bank, lender or shareholder needs one of those, it has to come from a licensed firm, and we'll tell you if that applies.

07

What Happened This Year

Check everything that applies — we'll ask for the detail.

Not sure whether something counts? Check it anyway or note it in section 09 — deciding what applies is our job, not yours.

08

Prior Years & the CRA

Is a CRA review, audit or letter outstanding?

09

Anything Else We Should Know

Changes in the business, CRA letters, things you're unsure about, people beyond the four above.
